A lamb hides the butcher's knife in order to save its mother – a true story that took place in Dalian city
Recently, a very successful small restaurant in the Malan Village in China that specializes in lamb soup, suddenly closed its business. Many of the restaurant’s regular customers were very puzzled. In fact, it had closed down because the owner of the restaurant was moved by a touching scene between two sheep. He was very saddened by this event and was determined to close the restaurant and never to engage in this profession again.
Publicly slaughtering live sheep is a specialty of this restaurant designed to feature the freshness of their meat. According to an insider, the owner, Mr. Chao, bought two sheep from a farmer about half a month ago, an old one and a young one. Mr. Chao planned to kill the old sheep that day and told the waiter to prepare for it. The waiter put the butcher knife on a bench outdoor and returned to the restaurant to get a basin for holding the sheep’s blood. However, after getting the basin and going back outside, he could not find the knife no matter where he looked. No one else who worked at the restaurant had seen it either.
In the mean time, the older lamb was found licking away the tears that were flowing down the younger lamb’s face while he lay on the floor looking upon the elder. Seeing this, the waiter called the restaurant owner, who was shocked by the scene. He remembered that the farmer mentioned that the two were mother and son; they must have known that their separation was approaching and were saying their farewells. In order to prevent further grief to the little lamb, Mr. Chao asked the waiter to take him away. Just as the waiter began to lift away the little lamb, the knife was found lying on the ground underneath him. No one knew how the knife came to be under the lamb, and everyone concluded that the lamb must have hid the knife under its body in order to prevent his mother’s slaughter.
Mr. Chao has heard that cattle, horses, and livestock shed tears prior to being slaughtered, but this was the first time he had seen it. With hesitation, he suggested that the waiter to keep these two sheep alive. The scene of the crying mother and son kept appearing in Mr. Chao’s mind, and he could not feel at ease. After struggling with this incidence for several days, he decided to close the restaurant and to never engage in this sort of profession anymore.
