One:

“No, no, no!�? Won threw the papers away from the glass table. “This is not the kind of contract I want. You think your company can match to ours ability with this crap? If you want my company to work with yours, you better check our deal one more time.�? Won’s back disappeared out of the room with his two assistants trailing behind him carrying folders and laptops, leaving the victims Won just yelled at behind.

“Fools.�? Won hissed behind his teeth, “They’re all fools.�? The glass doors to his office opened automatically and entered a large room with modern yet classy designs. They turned right and saw a desk and a lady sitting behind it shelving papers.

“Sir, the director of Lee’s Corporation just called in for an interview.�? His secretary stopped shuffling papers and rushed to tell him. He didn’t give her a glance, but walked straight pass her desk and pushed two nicely polished doors open to unveil another room, his office.

“Tell him that I would only see him if he agrees with our deal.�? He replied and waved his hands. Plopping down on his big leather chair, he spun around and looked out of the skyscrapers windows. Being on the 50th floor, the view had to be incredible.

“Yes sir.�? His secretary went back outside and closed the doors.

“Then what about the plan with the urban developments?�? Steven, the guy following behind him earlier asked.

“I want those guys on the project right away! I don’t care about those people, I offered a good sum of money, if they still refuses to leave, I’ll have to bring the authorities in there.�? Won spoke nonchalantly, eyes fixed on the outside. The guy took note and nodded.

“What about the orphanage?�? Miyeon, his other assistant asked checking the list of things she has to do on her clipboard, “Are we going to offer $500,000 for it?�?

“Offer as much as they want, I want the property soon. The land is perfect for a golfing area.�?

“Alright.�? The woman jotted down notes.

“And I want you guys to look closely at the Shin’s Enterprises; I don’t want anything in my way. Anything at all.�? Won directed, emphasizing his words. “I know that bastard Gordon is up to something.�? The two assistant nodded in chorus and left his office, tending to the task he told them to.

Once the doors were closed, Won let out a sigh and rubbed his forehead. The pain and nerves were tight up in a bundle of tense muscles and he couldn’t help but notice that it’s been happening on a regular basis. He concluded that it’s all stress from work. But being the demanding and perfectionist he is, he can’t let any mishap occur in his company. The company that has so much status and name in society that everyone knows who he is. Even his employees are well respected out in the streets; just say you work for Won Bin in the Bin CO. and you’re automatically on the A-list. But Won also has another reputation.

A reputation to be a jackass, a jerk, cold, and heartless. Nothing is more important to him than his business. He wants everything done his way or no way at all. No wonder he’s been cursed by so many people who he putted out of business and homes. Businesses that compete with him will most likely go bankrupt, unless he has interest in them so that he would invest in. He never lets himself fall into the act of commitment of a relationship. He would never in the first place put himself in a position where he has to be committed. The girls who were with him knew that it’s a give-take situation. Won would never surrender his feelings and himself to them. What they had was just a game, but they don’t mind. The looks, money and power that he has are enough for them. Nor does Won ever believe in truth and forever. “Nothing is forever.�? That was his motto; he lives by that standard and holds true to it till the day he dies.

The rain fell down hard that day.

The skies were gray and the wind was forcefully chilly. Stepping out of his office building, Steven stepped a few foot away to make a call, checking to see where Won’s driver was.

“Won, your driver said he’s parked two blocks from here because of traffic. It’ll take awhile before he can come down here.�?

“Tell him to stay where he is, I’ll go find him. I don’t want to waste a minute more of my time.�? Won checked his watch. By the time his car gets down to where he was, he could sign a contract and made millions.

“Here, you take this umbrella then, I’ll catch up to you later.�? Steven handed him the umbrella he was holding and ran back up to the office getting another one.

Won didn’t bother waiting for him and walked ahead himself. The raindrops made loud splashing noises when they fell on his umbrella. The droplets of water made each splash unique and each drop is unexpected; just like the things in life.

Walking coolly on the streets, Won saw the busy street filled with people. The sky was gray and packed with gray clouds, and this was exactly what always goes on in Won’s head. Everyone only lives for themselves. He smirked and told himself that he was right; you are the only one who will care for yourself in this cruel world. Don’t expect others to do it.

Oof. A body carelessly collided in front of him and stopped his tracks. The body happened to be a her, even though he didn’t see her face, the light green skirt and white sweater already told him. Her long hair was wet and she tried to recover her pose.

“I’m so sorry.�? She looked up and apologized. Water was still dripping from her face, but Won got a good look at her in that brief moment. Won could see her smile as she blushed embarrassedly. Her clumsy self was running from the rain with her purse over head like it was going to keep her dry. Aimlessly, she didn’t see Won walking in front of her and collided into him, now under the same umbrella with him. She bowed politely and continued to run away.

Won turned to where she ran and stood there watching her disappear further and further away. Each movement she made was so intriguing for some reason that his eyes were attached to her. Everything around him seemed gray…but the color of her dress, sweater, hair, eyes, blush and smile were so visible and clear to him. This thought was unfamiliar, but something inside his head started to click. He couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was, but the world spinning around him seemed so…forgotten. Everything was played in slow motion in his head. The sound of raindrops was so silent and he could see the ones dripping down from his umbrella so clearly like crystals and diamonds. There was definitely something about her.

“Sorry to make you walk all this way sir.�? His chauffeur opened the door for him. Sitting in the back of his black BMW, he leaned back and relaxed. Closing his eyes, his whole world seem to be gray and black, but for once, there was a stream of vibrant colors that flew across that darkness. It was the mysterious girl. He shot his eyes opened and found that he has fallen asleep. The car was still stuck in traffic and he sighed. His meeting will be delayed and the only thing he wants right now was to get out of his traffic hell hole.

The sun was out, but so was the rain. It was one of those rare days where it was warm and sunny, but there was rain. Won stared out the window aimlessly and scanned the hundreds of feet walking around the streets. The split moment his eyes saw the familiar dress and face, his head shot up and glued his eyes on her.

She was running again, but the smile on her face was radiant and bright. Running to a place with shelter over her head, she tried to catch her breath and wiped the water from her face. Her hair was dripping wet and clothes were drenched; her light green skirt swayed with the wind and so did her smile. Her rare beauty captivated Won’s interest.

The car finally moved and he departed further and further away from her.

“If there are millions on the streets, then why does only one stand out?�?

“Where have you been?�? Jae Hyun hissed quietly behind her folders, occasionally stealing glances left and right. “Nurse Yeo asked me a couple of times already.�?

“Thank you! Thank you!�? Vicki hugged her from behind and quickly took her seat. Dressed in her white nurse uniform she tied her long hair up into a tight ponytail. “I owe you.�?

“You didn’t know how scared I was of that woman!�? Jae hissed.

“Whad’s derre to be afradde of?�? She tried to talk while holding some clips between her lips. Jae kept quiet and turned her head back to the computer screen. Vicki saw how Jae acted and swallowed her words, “Not unless it’s an ingrown toenail.�? She cracked a lame joke and only laughed herself. “Good morning Nurse Yeo.�? She spun around in her chair and spat on a happy face.

The look on Nurse Yeo’s face was only irritation. “Where have you been?�? She asked all the while tapping her foot.

“..I was with Mrs. Wong, she made me stayed with her all morning trying to teach me how to knit.�? Vicki lied.

“Really?�? Nurse Yeo eyed her carefully, “..very well then; carry on.�? She waved her hands before stepping out of the room.

Vicki and Jae watched as Nurse Yeo left, “That was so close!�? Jae breathed. “You are never doing that again!�? She warned.

Vicki only smiled cheekily and leaned back, “I know you love the excitement Jae, and better yet, you love me.�? She said cockily.

Jae sighed and rolled her eyes, “Just because we’ve been friends since forever doesn’t mean you could just run off and expect me to deal with Ms. Satan here.�?

“The orphanage called me last night and I had to run to check things out.�? Pulling out a file, she started to scan through papers and checking off things.

“What did they want?�? Jae asked.

“They said some company wants to buy the orphanage to make a golf course.�? Vicki rolled her eyes.

“How much are they asking?�?

“Does it matter? If they buy the orphanage where would the children go? And some of the workers are there for years now, if they loose their job, what else can they do?�? Vicki reasoned, “I don’t care how much money they offer, taking the land and poking holes so rich people with nothing can do have a place to resort is no reason to sell.�?

“What are you going to do then?�?

“Fight till the end!�? Vicki raised up a fist and shouted, but realized that she was a bit too loud and quickly recovered. Jae laughed and shook her head.

“Hi Mrs. Shim, how are you doing today?�? Kneeling down on one knee, Vicki gently patted the old lady on the back and asked.

“Hmm, is that you darling?�? Waking up from her quick shut eyes, the old lady was surprised to see her regular nurse. “Where have you been all morning?�?

“I was late,�? She admitted, “Did you take your medicine already?�?

“Yes, I always listen to you.�? Mrs. Shim tried to avoid eye contact.

“Really? Then why on earth are these pills in your coat pocket I found earlier?�? Vicki cocked her head.

“I have no idea where they came from.�? Mrs. Shim lied.

“You know you have to take these pills if you want to feel better.�? Vicki reminded, “how about we make a deal, if you take these pills for a whole week, every week I can do one thing for you. If you want me to buy something outside, I’ll sneak it in no matter what for you.�?

Mrs. Shim thought about the deal and grinned, “You promised sweetheart.�?

Vicki nodded and handed her the pills and a bottled of her water. Following her directions, Mrs. Shim swallowed the pills and told her to take a seat next to her. “You know, you’ve been with me for so long now, I don’t know how much time I’ll get to see you.�?

“What do you mean? I’ll always be here for you to see me silly.�? Vicki held her hands. “I remember you were my first patient when I first became a nurse. I would forget things and you would yell at me.�? They laughed.

“I had to give you some pointers.�? Mrs. Shim admitted, “You were so clumsy and careless I wanted to smack you on the back of the head so many times.�?

“And you did!�? Vicki protested. “But you taught me so many things; thank you.�? Truly, Vicki considered Mrs. Shim more as family than just patient and nurse. Since she never had a family of her own, Mrs. Shim was the second closest friend to her besides the orphanage.

Biding Mrs. Shim goodbye, Vicki casually walked to another familiar friend with her clipboard in hand. Mr. Han was playing checkers with himself. “What are you doing?�? She asked smiling.

“Shh! You’re ruining my concentration!�? He shushed her. Vicki smiled to herself and watched him. “I’m trying to come up with the ultimate check mate move!�?

“That’s chess.�? She told him.

“Whatever, I came up with both chess and checkers anyways, so I should know the rules.�? He said stubbornly.

“Yes Mr. Genius. Have you done your exercises today?�?

“Isn’t this my exercise?! I’m exercising my hands, fingers, and mind.�? Rolling his eyes, he ignorantly ranted. “You always make me do exercises! Nothing but boring things over and over again!�?

“What about I do the exercises with you?�? Vicki made a deal.

“You will?�? Mr. Han looked with unsure eyes.

Vicki nodded. Deep inside, she knew he wasn’t tired of the exercises, it was just that his attitude always drive other people away. They’re either afraid or couldn’t stand his behavior. But really, Mr. Han is just a big kid himself. She held both of his hands in front of him and while he walked forwards she walked backwards, warming up his legs. As they advanced, a rather waltzing song from a nearby radio played.

“Shall we dance?�? Vicki asked smiling, knowing how Mr. Han loves music and dancing.

“Without a doubt!�? And they gilded through the grass in the large backyard.

Indeed, everyone knew Vicki as a caring nurse, not one that would remind you of taking your medications on time, and nagging you to behave this or that way. But rather, someone who is a friend of yours in the lonely hospital. Jae is also known, but in the children department, taking care of the ill and recovering kids.

“Shall we go eat my darling?�? Vicki linked her arms with Jae as she popped up from behind her in the hallway.

“You always scare me like that!�? Jae frantically whispered, which only made Vicki giggled more and linked their arms tighter. Doctors and other passerbys saw the two girls and couldn’t help but stared at them longer. With Jae’s subtle and kind personality and Vicki’s cheerful and welcoming aura, the two beauties were a match indeed. Perfect in every angle.

“Won, what about tomorrow’s meeting?�? Miyeon asked behind her laptop in his office.
Won didn’t make sound, but stared out of the sky scraper’s window. Miyeon and Steven exchanged looks and stared at Won’s back. “Won?�? Miyeon asked again.

“Hmm?�? Coming back to his senses, he spoke, “I have a feeling their going to make things go our way. No need to worry about the contract, they need our cooperation, and they’ll make sure they get it even they have to give us the upper hand.

Won gazed out in the city where the sun was hitting all places. He saw the corner coffee shop where he first met the stranger that captivated his interest. His head started to hurt and he closed his eyes shut. The constant headache and strain in his forehead started to have an effect on him. Every night he had to take pain killers, slowly easing away the pain.

“Won, are you okay?�? Steven scrunched his eyebrows, noticing his change of character.

“We’ll talk more about this tomorrow guys.�? Won waved his hands and dismissed them out of his office. Laying on black leather couch, he closed his eyes and rubbed his temple. A soft tear rolled down from the corner of his eyes as he shut them closed. He said he was going to his specialist to find the reason for his reoccurring pain, but his schedule kept conflicting his time. In the end, he concluded that he just needed a vacation and break time from all his work. But only God knows how long will that be.

The next morning, as Won assumed, their company won the upper hand of his new project and once again successfully advanced their company’s stock another level. The next thing on his list was a planned visit to the orphanage.

His black Lexus parked in front of the old building with rusted gates and flowers. Taking off his sunglasses, he had a whole team of people following behind him, assistants, secretaries, lawyers, and even a body guard. They came in several cars, all black ones to be exact, each one professional looking and intimidating. He was the first to walk up the driveway from where they were parked and looked at what’s around him. The orphanage was a bit run down, old bricks and wood chipping off. The grass was purely green though, a little garden was visible with different colors of flowers, plants and vegetables. The land is definitely good for a golf course once the building is demolished.

“Good morning.�? Won firmly greeted, standing straight and tall, without expressing any kind of friendliness. “I hope you’re all doing well, and willing to negotiate.�?

Not only did Won have his own entourage, but the orphanage has theirs as well. The eldest member and the rest of the volunteers and workers all stood in the front of the door blocking Won’s entrance.

“Mr. Bin, I hope you can reconsider and don’t take this orphanage away from us.�? The eldest coordinator, Sister Susan plead, “Surely you can find another location for your business. If the orphanage is gone, where would the children go? What will the workers do? They need this job!�? The woman’s voice sounded weak and tired.

“I understand your circumstances, but you should understand mine as well. You see, your old contractor has already sold his company to me, and this here is rightfully my property.�? At the hint of his words, his lawyer stepped up from behind him and held up a contract. “Now, I’m willing to make a deal with you and offer you a good compromise, as long as you listen to me.�?

“NO!�?

Everyone startled and looked around for the unexpected voice. Out from inside the building stood no one else but Vicki in jeans and a blue t-shirt. Making her way up front, she stood in front of her crowd and in front of Won.

“I’ll say it again, ‘NO!’�? She met her eyes with Won with hands on her hips, determined to win.

A smile slowly spread across Won’s handsome face and he observed her deeply.

“You and you entourage can just escort yourselves out!�? Vicki pointed to the gate.

Won stood his ground and grinned, “Haven’t we met before?�?

Confused at his words, she scrunched her eyebrows and looked at him oddly, “No, I don’t think so.�? She said confidently.

“Really, you don’t remember?�? Won tilted his head.

“Why do you always have to make me repeat myself?�? Getting frustrated with Won, she took a step closer towards him. “I don’t care how much you make us an offer, this orphanage has been here for years, and it’ll stay here for more years to come.�?

Won recognized her familiar scent since the last time she bumped into him and knew for sure he had the right person. “Listen lady, by law, this property is rightfully mine now. We don’t want the authorities to come in now do we?�?

“Do you know what this will mean to the children here?�? Vicki asked him. “They already lost their original home, how are they going to adjust to another home if this building is gone?�?

“And are these children mine?�? Won remarked, “THIS,�? he pointed to the ground, “This, property is mine.�?

“Why aren’t you listening to me?�? Vicki accused.

“You’re not listening to the law here.�? Won stubbornly retorted.

While the two ‘talked’, Sister Nancy felt light headed and fainted in the arms of a volunteer. Her loud yell broke everyone’s attention and panic rose. Vicki dashed to where Sister Nancy was on the ground and checked her pulse.

“Quick, someone call the ambulance!�? She instructed. “Give her some air everyone.�?

“It’s going to take awhile, bring her to my car.�? Won said calmly. Like instant reaction, Won’s guard lifted Sister Nancy and gently placed her in his car. Vicki followed behind him and got in as well. As his driver drove, Vicki constantly called and checked for a reaction from Sister Nancy while Won sat beside her. He quietly watched her and her caring ways.

“This is your entire fault!�? She suddenly turned around and pointed her fingers at Won.

“My fault again?�? Won opened his eyes wider, “When was it my fault that she has a bad heart? When was it my fault that she collapsed when you were still arguing with me?!�? Won became furious from her accusations.

Vicki felt disgusted with him; a cold heartless person like Won could truly exist in this world. She never have thought.

Arriving at the hospital, Sister Nancy was rushed into the emergency room. Won sitting casually on the bench waiting, took out his cell phone and started to dial down a number. “You can’t use the phone here in the hospital.�? Vicki told him, standing feet away from him. Won flipped his phone closed and got irritated with her.

“Vicki!�? Jae, in her uniform ran down the hallway and dashed right to Vicki. “What happened?�?

“Sister Nancy is in the emergency, I think she might have had a heart attack.�? Vicki told her. Tears welled up in her eyes and each one came rolling down one at a time. Jae hugged her trying to soothe her.

Won watched as she softly cried. She’s a total opposite from him. Her emotions run so freely and openly, unlike his. She’s the kind of girl who’s hard to read because her emotions are never the same. Sitting on the bench, Vicki stopped crying and held onto Jae’s hands.

The doctor came out and took off his surgical mask, “She’s safe now. But needs to stay in the hospital for a while, and make sure she doesn’t get more disruptions.�? The doctor ordered.

Sighing in relief, Vicki wiped the drying tears and smiled broadly. “Did you hear that Jae?�? Jae nodded.

Won’s assistants came in and whispered something in his ears, “Now that everything is okay, I assume that I should go talk to the co-director instead since Sister Nancy shouldn’t be disturbed.�? He stood up, placed his hands in his pants pocket and announced.

“Wait!�? Vicki called before he walked away. “Won’t you even reconsider about not taking the land?�?

Won didn’t answer her, but only grinned and walked away.

Holding Sister Nancy’s hands, Vicki sat quietly next to her bed and watched her as she peacefully slept. Clear memories of the day she was abandoned in front of the orphanage rummaged in her head. It was fall; the leaves were turning golden brown and falling off the crisp twigs on the branches. The wind was calming and soothing, but something uneasy was stirring inside of five year old Vicki instead. She held onto her dear father’s hand and looked up at the building.

“Daddy, why are we here?�? Her eyes beamed. She lost her mother during birth and depended everything on her father. He was her dad, he was her mom, and he was her world.

He smiled kindly at her and kneeled down to where her height was, “Honey, daddy have to go stay in the hospital for a while, and I won’t be able to take care of you. But don’t you worry, I found someone that will take really good care of you.�? He reached up to touch her porcelain face.

“When will you be back daddy? Are you sick? Why are you going to the hospital? I don’t want to stay here!�? She wailed, “I want to be with you!�?

“Don’t worry dear, I’ll be back soon, I promise.�? He assured. Taking off his own scarf, he wrapped it gently around her neck and fixed her pigtails one last time.

After that, Vicki would cry every night without her dad. Sister Nancy would comfort her, take her to the hospital to visit her dad, and tell her everything was going to be alright. Every time she went to the hospital, her dad would always smile no matter how pale he got. Smiling for his only daughter was the last thing he could’ve done for her. She noticed his state got worse and worse each time she went and saw him on the hospital bed. She would show him the pictures and projects she was doing in the orphanage, telling him stories of her fun times, when really she spent most of the time crying and thinking about him.

After two years of continuous visits, she didn’t go anymore. Sister Nancy says her dad no longer needs her visits because he’s in a better place. He’s with her mother now, both of them happily together. And she should be happy for him for finding such a place, and smile for that. It took her a long time to completely heal, nor did she think she will ever heal, but she did. The orphanage became her home, and the people there became her family. She became a nurse because she saw how important they were taking care of patients. Especially her father, she saw how caring the nurses were, bringing sick patients back their health. And ever since then, she vowed to be apart of that team.

Now that Sister Nancy is in the hospital, she felt that it’s up to her to save the orphanage and give back to what she owes. No matter what, she will win the orphanage back.

“You finally found the time to come see me Won?�? Doctor Choi joked and started to examine Won.

Taking off his suit jacket, Won started to loosen his tie and unbuttoned his shirt for the checkup, “Sorry hyung, I meant to come and see you earlier.�? Won smiled and apologized.

“Don’t worry,�? Choi smiled, “I’ve known you for a long time, knowing your busy schedule.�? Slowly breathing in and out, Doctor Choi examined Won’s every heart beat and jotted down notes. “Anything wrong Won? Do you feel anything recently?�?

“I know I haven’t had a checkup for a while, but during these past months this constant headache and dizziness keeps reoccurring. And my eyes would start to water and hurt, I even blacked out in one point.�? Won remembered. “Could this be stress?�?

“It could be, but I don’t want to give you a definite answer yet. Do you drink or smoke?�?

“Business meetings, and occasionally at home.�? Won threw his jacket back on.

“Hmm, I advise you to stop then, excessive drinking and smoking could build from your stress and harm your health.�? The doctor jotted down more notes, “I’ll draw some blood for you and give you a definite answer in about a week or so. But during this time, I want you to hang loose on your drinking and smoking.�?

Won laughed and shook his head, “Come on hyung, do I still look like a little kid to you?�?

“This is a serious matter Won, I’m only asking you to do this for your own sake.�? Choi frowned, “The symptoms you described, I’ll look deeper into it.�?

“I’ll try, but I won’t guarantee if I will stop.�?

“Do I need to get you a personal nurse to look after you?�?

Won laughed even harder, “If you can, I only want pretty ones.�? He joked.

“I treat you as my own brother Won, I don’t want to see anything happened to you.�? This serious comment made Won stop. “Now if there’s anything I could do for you, let me know.�?

“Thanks hyung.�? With that, they bid goodbye. Walking out of the hospital, Won had a lot on his mind. The commotion stirred this morning, the meeting of the familiar stranger, everything seemed to be out of his ordinary doings.

“Thank you Vicki.�?

“You’re welcome sweetie.�? Over hearing the familiar voice again, Won peeked into a hallway leading to another ward. “Don’t hide again when the doctors check up on you okay?�? Vicki smiled and patted a little boy’s head.

“But he always gives me shots! And they hurt!�? The little boy whined.

“But those shots are helping you. If you get more sick, you’ll need even more shots. Which do you prefer?�? Vicki wisely thought.

The boy thought and frowned, “I guess my regular check ups.�? Vicki smiled victoriously. Convincing people sure was her specialty, now she only needs to convince Won to leave the orphanage alone.

“Well, we meet again.�? He spoke and stood straight with his hands in his pocket. Flashing another one of his handsome smile, he was looking forward to another one of her accusations of him. “We meet pretty recently don’t we?�?

“What are you still doing here?�? Vicki smirked, “Haven’t you caused enough commotion in a day?�?

“You work here?�? Staring at her uniform, he got a glimpse of her name tag, “Vicki huh?�?

She frowned, “Vicki Zhao.�? Unafraid to tell him her full name, her tone was more of a challenge.

“Mrs. Vicki Zhao,�? Won emphasized the Mrs., but got interrupted again.

“Miss Vicki Zhao.�? She corrected him.

Won smiled and nodded, “Miss Zhao, I should say this, but probably you already figured, maybe having a better tone of voice towards someone will get you more the benefits.�?

“What are you talking about? I don’t need any benefits from YOU.�? She frowned.

Won shrug and walked away after patting the little boy on the head. The little boy looked at them confused. Seeing his retrieving back, she snarled at him and wanted to kick him from behind.

As the following days went by, Won received a series of messages from Vicki trying to make him reconsider his development. The tone changes gradually as she started to get more and more frustrated when he didn’t bother calling her back.

It started as, “Good Morning Mr. Bin, I’m pretty sure you’re a busy person, I’ll just make this call short. First I would like to apologize about the other day. Fourth message, “You know what Bin? I don’t care if you like my tone of voice or not. You’re the most despicable person I’ve ever met. You think you can just buy everything with that money of yours? Well you’re wrong! I won’t let you have the orphanage!�?

And the line went dead. Short moments later her voice reappeared on another call, “And I hope you have GREAT day!�? Won laughed silently at her sarcasm. This Vicki Zhao sure is something.

The scent of the hospital wasn’t too pleasing for Won’s nose, but since Doctor Choi sounded serious, he had no choice but to put some meetings aside and make another stop in the hospital. “Miyeon, tell them to hold off the meetings until further notice. I don’t know how long I’ll take.�? He ordered through his cell phone. A nurse saw and held up her fingers telling him to be quiet and pointed to a sign on the wall, “No cell phones allowed�?. He nodded, but basically ignored her. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.�?

Catching a lot of the ladies, especially some of the nurse’s attention, he was oblivious to the stares and admiration he was getting, he continued walking towards his Doctor’s office. He couldn’t help but looked around for Vicki, seeing if she would pass by the hallway. He could’ve asked Doctor Choi to come see him instead, but he wanted to come in personally, stealing a glance at the stranger who kept on leaving messages on his phone.

“Come in.�? Doctor Choi’s voice echoed behind the door once he heard Won’s knock.

“You wanted to see me hyung?�? Won closed the door behind him and took a seat. Crossing his legs and situating himself more comfortably, Won clasped his hands together and waited for him to start the conversation.

“Glad you came today Won.�? Doctor Choi set his work aside and reached for a manila folder in another cabinet. Opening up the folder, a stack of papers were clearly visible when he set them on the table. “I haven’t reached a full conclusion with your results yet Won, but I do have something to tell you.�?

“What is it? Do I get a special prize if I guess it right?�? Won joked.

“Won, this is serious.�? Doctor Choi never let his gaze off of Won, “Now, the results didn’t say anything wrong with your body. But since you described your constant headaches and eye pain, I decided to have an optometrist take a look instead. He took a look at your report and by the samples I gave him, he wanted to take at your eyes himself.�? They walked to another room where another doctor was already waiting for them with equipments and scans. After an hour or so, Won started to become impatient with waiting and fumed in his seats. “How long do I have to stay here?�? He asked Doctor Choi.

“Just a little bit more Won.�? Placing Won’s files back into the cabinet, Doctor Choi dialed the nurse’s number outside on the reception desk, “Yes, please tell her to come in.�?

Won checked his watch, tapping his feet to pass time away, “Now who are we seeing?�?

A knock came from the outside at that moment. “Come in.�? Staring at the door, Won wanted to know who the next special guest was on this ‘special’ day.

“You asked for me Doctor Choi?�? A female’s voice entered the room.

Looking up at the woman, Won’s eyes bulged and a frowned came upon his face. Vicki’s eyes always went wide when she saw Won in the same room. Then she snickered at him and remembered she’s still in her uniform, so she must do her job.

“Vicki, this is Mr. Won Bin.�? Doctor Choi introduced, “And this is Miss Vicki—“

“Zhao.�? Won finished.

“Oh, then you guys already know each other; even better.�? Doctor Choi smiled. “Have a seat Vicki. Listening to the doctor, Vicki took a seat next to Won. “The reason I called you here is I have a favor to ask. I want to make Vicki your personal nurse Won.�?

“What?!�? Both of them shouted in unison.

“Since Won hasn’t been listening to my orders to lessen his drinking and smoking and as his hyung, I think I have a right to step in.�? Won couldn’t believe his ears. They weren’t real brothers, and here he is stepping into his personal business. “So I ask you Vicki to be his personal nurse and makes sure he doesn’t drink or smoke and takes his medication on time.�?

“Medication for insanity?�? Vicki hissed under breath, but audible for Won to hear. “Doctor Choi, to be honest, I would be glad to assist anyone you asked me too, but this time, I think I’ll pass.�?

“Why?�? Doctor Choi asked.

“She’s not up to my level yet.�? Won butted in. “Besides hyung, I know you’re doing this for my own good, but my business is my business. Your job is a doctor, and you’ve done your job, the will holds fully in the patient’s hands in the end.�?

“I know that Won. But I’m doing all I can to help you. Your state of health is still critically unsure. I want to be cautious and take no risks at all.�? Doctor Choi explained. “And Vicki, I’m only asking you because I trust you as a nurse. I’ve seen your performance here in the hospital, you can convince any patient. So please, I ask this from the both of you.�?

Both of them were silent and pondering on the thought.

In Won’s head: “What is this? I can manage a whole corporation and thousands of employees, but I can’t make my own judgment on my health? And this girl, it’s hard enough making proper and full sentences with her without a curse word, how is she going to take care of me? I don’t need care in the first place! She might kill me even faster instead.�?

In Vicki’s head: “Why is God always punishing me? Did I committed some awful doings in my past life to deserve this? This jerk that’s so unbelievably horrid and heartless and wants to kick children out onto the streets---Wait. If I spend more time with him, maybe I can get him to leave the orphanage alone…�? A thought flickered in her head.

“I’ll do it. No matter how much differences we have, as a caring and professional nurse, I have the duty to take care of my patients.�? Vicki said heroically. Doctor Choi smiled as she said that, knowing his choice was right. Won wanted to puke.

“I object though.�? Won spoke stubbornly. Ready to get up and leave, Won didn’t feel like wasting his time anymore.

“Won, I promised your dad to look after you when he left. Please let me do that for him.�? Doctor’s Choi voice was low, but Won heard what he said. He stopped in his tracks, but his thoughts and heart also stopped. Bringing his dad back was hard for Won. The room suddenly became tense and awkward when no one was talking. Won’s breathing was calm though, thinking and pondering on what he should do.

“..Fine. I’ll pay her though, I don’t want to thank her for anything. What she provides, I’ll pay, so later she and I would have nothing more but business.�?

Vicki frowned and her blood boiled, “What do you take me as Won Bin? Your playmates?�?

Doctor Choi tried to calm her down and explained, “It’s not like that Vicki, Won just…has a certain way to deal with certain people.�?

“Think whatever you want.�? Won stuffed his hands in his pants pockets, “My assistant will contact you.�? With that, he left the room.

Taking slow strides and burdensome breathing, Vicki practically dragged her feet and luggage towards Won’s mansion. Taking a deep breath before ringing the doorbell, she thought about it long and hard the previous nights. It’ll be hard living with him and being his personal nurse will require her to be with him even longer. But if she could convince him to stop development on the orphanage, she would pledge her life in doing so…just not her dignity. She would make rules clear that any kind of body conduct between the two of them will not be made. And he would have to listen to her since she has the right to tell him what to do. Or does she?

“May I help you?�? The door suddenly opened when she was deep in her thoughts. “Oh, you must be Miss Zhao, please come in.�? A kind lady greeted her. Smiling sheepishly, she stepped inside. Situating herself on a comfy couch, the lady pranced up the long stairway to get ‘Master Won’ she assumed. The living room was modern, yet luxurious. Even his furniture sets would’ve cost her three months of pay roll to get. How he wastes money on materialistic things when he could have used it for better deeds.

Footsteps made her head turn when they came down. He was in gray pants and a black sweater that made him look different from his regular suit and tie she usually see him in. “You’re here.�? He said nonchalantly.

“Like I want to be.�? She said under her breath and rolled her eyes. Pulling a fake smile on her face, she began, “Before we start Mr. Won, I would like to discuss a contract with you.�?

“Sure. I would as well.�? He sat down opposite from her with a coffee table separating them. “I’m glad you did some thinking before you came.�?

“I have my reasons and I’m sure you have your limits as well.�? Vicki taunted. Pulling out a list from her bag, she cleared her throat and began reading. “One: there shall be no sexual contact whatsoever during this time.�?

Won hid his laughter, like he would ever lay a finger on her. Vicki ignored his ignorant laugh and continued, “Two: Vicki Zhao does not have to agree to whatever Won Bin says or do, she has the right to leave. Three: Won Bin shall listen to Vicki Zhao’s orders when she commands them, example, taking pills and check-ups on time. Four: During this time, it is Vicki Zhao’s duty to help Won Bin quit smoking and drinking. Five:--“

“How many are there?�? Won interrupted. Flipping the paper over and revealing more rules, Won was already annoyed. “I have my set of rules too.�? Without waiting for her to finish hers, he started to list off his, “I do not have to listen to you. I don’t want you to interfering with my personal business. I don’t want to see you stepping in and out of my office. I don’t want you—“

“Why does everything have to evolve around you?!�? This time Vicki interrupted. “All I hear is I and You. You and I. I have a name you know?�?

“And all I heard was Vicki Zhao, Won Bin. Your use of words doesn’t make us all that close as well you know.�?

“Fine then, from now on, you can call me Vicki.�? She eyed him, “and I’ll address you as Won.�?

Won made a nod, “Whatever pleases you, VICKI.�? Both of them paused and stared at each other from the corner of their eyes, waiting to see who would be interrupted next. “Then shall we continue then?�?

“Wait, at this rate, we’ll never get to finish. Let’s write this contract together then.�? Vicki folded her arms.

Half an hour later…

Vicki held the crisply printed paper in her hand and cleared her throat before reading, “Ah-hem. One: There shall be no sexual conduct of any kind. Two: Won Bin should ‘try’ to cooperate with Vicki when she asks him to stop drinking and smoking. Three: If Vicki does not want to accompany Won to any social event, she has the right not to. Four: During this time until further termination date, Won Bin is to pay Vicki Zhao…�? She stopped unsure of her rate of pay.

“Is $500 a week enough?�? He spoke.

“500?�? She asked, eyes wide. “That’s more than what I get paid in the hospital.�?

“Is it not enough? Name your price.�?

“Hey! I’m warning you Bin, don’t address me as your call girls.�?

“I didn’t mean it like that, what ever price you want, just name it.�? Won rolled his eyes.

“500 is enough.�? Taking a pen and writing the numbers in, Vicki continued down the list, “Five: Vicki Zhao and Won Bin is not interfere with each other’s personal business. Six: If either one is to arrive home late or leave elsewhere, they must notify the other person so that they don’t have to wait for the other. Fair enough?�?

Won nodded and took out a pen. Both of them signing their copy of the contract, and switching papers signing again. “A pleasure doing business with you.�? Won smiled.

“You can just call me Linda.�? The previous lady who greeted her smiled as she led Vicki to her room. “This is our guest room, I hope you like it.�? Opening the door, she showed Vicki her stay in the mansion, where it was down the hallway from Won’s room. “If you need anything, don’t be afraid to call me.�?

Vicki thanked her and started to unpack her luggage. The room was twice the size of her own apartment, and everything was already available. Her room was decorated with mostly white and a pale apple green to contrast. Her queen size bed was layered with comforters, blanket and pillows. There was also a balcony leading to the view of the little beach that was close by. But if she turned to her left, she could get a glimpse of Won’s room as well. That was the only part she didn’t like.

She told herself that during this time, she will try to tolerate him, in the sake of the orphanage, she will try to get him to let go.

“It’s just a short time Vicki, you can do it!�? She encouraged herself.

Before dinner, Vicki decided to take a quick shower and get adjusted to her new but temporary home. Blow drying her long hair, she wore sweats and a white t-shirt that looked a little bit too big for her. Strolling to the dining room, the delicious tasting food was in the clearly in the air and stepping inside, she found plates of food set and ready on the table. Linda was busy scooping the last plate of food from the pot.

“It smells so wonderful.�? Vicki complemented and took in another sniff of air. Linda smiled broadly.

“You must eat everything here okay?�? Linda urged, “have a seat honey.�? Obeying, and taking her seat, her mouth started to water once the food came into closer view. “Won should be down in a second.�? The thought of Won just made her lost all appetite.

“Soo…have you worked for Won long?�? Stirring conversation, Vicki decided to take this chance and get to know her enemy a little bit better.

“I worked for the Bin family ever since he was born. You can say I was his nanny.�? Linda chuckled.

“Nanny? What about his mom?�? Vicki was curious to know.

“Uh…�? Linda hesitated but didn’t continue.

“What’s the conversation?�? Suddenly came Won’s voice breaking the silence.

“Nothing dear; sit, food is ready.�? Linda quickly changed the subject.

Won took his seat opposite from Vicki at the long dining table. “You look wonderful tonight Vicki.�? He complemented from his tone of sarcasm. She realized she wore her old shorts and over sized t-shirt, where he was in his cashmere sweater, Armani dress pants and Prada shoes. Vicki dodged a fake grinned and tilted her head to the side. When Linda was done placing the last plate of food on the table, Won picked up his chopsticks and began eating.

“Aren’t you going to eat with us Linda?�? Vicki questioned.

“Oh no dear, I have to leave now.�? Linda wiped her hands and began to take off her apron.

“Wait, don’t you live here too?�? Vicki asked panic.

Linda chuckled, “No dear, I have my own family too. I’m just here part time now for Won.�? This made Vicki panic, if Linda leaves too, that means she and Won are the only ones living in the house. ALONE, TOGETHER. “Remember to eat all the food dear. Good night.�? She waved and left.

“Don’t worry, laying my fingers on you would be the last thing on earth I’ll do.�? Won blurted, focusing solely on the food. She was surprised when he seemed to know what she was thinking about.

“Who said I was worried huh?�? Vicki snarled, picked up her chopsticks and started stuffing the food in her mouth. The more she ate, the more amazed she became by the different flavors and varieties. “Hmm…these are wonderful, does Linda always cook for you?�?

“Ever since young.�? Won replied.

“Hmm, these are great.�? She mumbled to herself and continued eating. Won stopped his eating and watched her. She was so absorbed into the wonderful food she even dropped food on herself because of her clumsiness. Won let out a quiet laugh as he watched her.

“Well, I’m done. I’ll be in my office, if there’s no problem, don’t disturb me.�? Won stood up from his desk.

“Wait, what about all these dishes?�? Vicki pointed.

“I don’t know. Linda usually stays until I’m done, but she has to run early today. She cleans them up.�? Won shrug.

Vicki couldn’t believe her ears, this guy is still living like a little kid. “What am I suppose to do then?�?

“You can eat it all, leave them on the table, or if you want, wash them yourself.�? Won suggested and left.

“Ha-“ Vicki watched his retreating back, “Jerk.�?

After she was done, she had no choice but to box up all the left over food and kept them away in the refrigerator. She was left with a ton of dishes in the sink afterwards. Even though she was a guest, she felt guilty that Linda has to come tomorrow and wash all the dishes by herself since she already cooked the meal, besides, it would be impolite if she did. She had no one to blame but the bastard who’s upstairs in his office.

Before she went to bed, she decided to step into his office and actually address him how she would help him to stop smoking and drinking. Griping her ‘plan’ in her hands, she knocked before she entered.

“Don’t enter.�? An answer she didn’t expected. Leaning in closer to the door, she heard nothing but keyboard tapping. Furiously she pushed the door open and found him ignoring her request and working away on his computer.

“Very polite to treat your guests Bin.�? She welcomed herself to a seat.

“You weren’t really my guest to begin with. You’re just my nurse.�? He retorted.

“Fine, as your “nurse�? I have a plan to go over with you.�? She said sternly and unfolded a big calendar. “This is the plan that we’re going to go with to help you stop your drinking and smoking.�?

“Calendar?�? Won didn’t believe his ears, “What do I look like to you Vicki? Your 3 year old patients?�?

Vicki honestly shook her head, “Of course not Won,�? She was shocked that he would say that, “I treat you as my insane patients instead.�?

“Funny.�? Won mocked.

“Anyways, starting from tomorrow, you will be limited to only one pack of cigarettes for three days. And since I assume you won’t drink during the day because of meetings and such, drinking at night will also be limited to only two glasses.�?

“Are you kidding me?�? Won asked.

“Hmm…April Fool’s already passed, so nope.�? Vicki smiled and shook her head. “And I’ll remind you constantly to take your medication. Have a good night.�? Vicki perkily waved and pranced off to her room.

Won rubbed his temples and only prayed that this would all end soon.

The next morning crept up fast during the night and unaware to the sleeping Vicki, it was already 9:30 in the morning. Popping her head up with her hair in the way, she half opened her eyes and remembered that she was no longer in her own home. The comfortable bed must have lured her to a longer sleep than she intended. Dashing downstairs to see if Won was still in the house, she found the curtains already opened with tons of light seeping in. Walking in the kitchen, she found Linda cleaning the counters and stove.

“Morning dear, did you have a nice sleep?�? She smiled kindly.

“Morning Linda, when did you come?�?

“I always come here at seven in the morning to prepare breakfast.�? Taking a plate of food out of the oven for warm keeping, Linda placed it on the table, “Here’s your plate dear, eat before it gets cold.�?

“Me?�? Vicki asked unsure.

Linda laughed, “Do you see anyone else here?�? Pushing Vicki to her seat, Vicki felt like Linda was her own mom.

Slowly eating her scrambled eggs and ham, Linda was busy working, but Vicki couldn’t help but ask her more questions about Won. “Won sure is a busy person isn’t he?�?

“Yes, he’s been busy ever since I can remember. Even when his father was still around, he would always attend business with him, and now that he’s gone, he’s even busier.�? Linda continued scrubbing, “So how did you know Won?�?

“Uh well…it was just kind of an accident I suppose.�? Vicki shrugged, “Let’s just say that both of us don’t want to the other to stay here for long.�?

“Won is someone whom you need to know deeper first until you really get to know him Vicki.�? Vicki stopped her eating and noticed the change of voice in Linda’s tone. “Believe, once you do get to know him, he’s a real sweetheart.�? Vicki thought that was the biggest complement that anyone could give him. “I usually stay and clean the house until noon, then I go out and buy groceries for dinner.�?

“I see.�? Vicki finished the last of her plate and walked over the sink with it. Turning off the faucet, Linda stopped her.

“Just leave that here.�? Linda urged.

Instead of listening to Linda this time, Vicki washed her own dishes, not use to other people cleaning up after her. Her clock read 9:50, still not time for her to go to his office yet. Linda was busy with her own work, and that left Vicki roaming around the house herself. She wanted to go back to her room and change, but walking pass Won’s room, she couldn’t help but tiptoed inside. She found his room exceptionally clean, two rooms combined into one, he has a king size bed, a desktop next to it, another round table rather high in the middle of the room. The right side of his room is his walk-in closet, filled with neatly arranged clothing. Flipping through his clothes, his suit jackets were organized neatly according from dark colors to lighter ones. White crisp shirts on the other side of the closet, aligned with rolled up color ties. His casual clothes neatly folded in drawers and spotless. His room was actually quite boring.

Giving up on trying to find some scoop about him, she was ready to walk out. Something small in the living room space caught her eyes. Picture frames on his desk and bookshelves made her wonder. There were pictures of Won in his graduation outfit smiling and holding his diploma standing next to an older man. Vicki assumed that that was his father since they showed the same resemblance. Then there were pictures where they were at the golf course, looking extremely happy. Vicki never knew there was a side to Won that could smile to purely. Strange enough, the pictures were only either with Won by himself or with his dad. There weren’t a single picture of his mom and she thought she never heard him mention his mom before.

The alarm on her watch started beeping, which meant it was time to give Won a call. Smiling wickedly, she pranced out of his room and pulled her cell phone out of her pocket. Dialing his office number, she waited until he picked up.

“Won speaking.�? Came his voice.

“It’s almost 10:15, did you take your vitamins yet?�?

“Yes, I already did.�? He responded.

“Liar!�? She accused over the phone, “How can you take your vitamins when they’re still in the house!�? Getting caught red handed, Won slapped himself mentally in the head for forgetting he left it this morning. “I’ll just have to come by your office personally myself.�? She hung up on him and furiously went to go change, ready to go and beat the lying bastard.

In her jeans, old college sweater and a messenger bag, she walked into the grand building and made her way to the fiftieth floor. People in suits and ties were busy walking around and typing on their computer. Walking towards the end of the long hallway, she found another larger desk and a young lady behind it.

“May I help you?�? She stood up and greeted.

“Uh yes, I’m here to see Mr. Bin.�?

“Do you have a scheduled appointment time Miss?�?

“No, but can you please tell him that Vicki Zhao wants to see him? He’s already expecting me.�? Vicki smiled uneasily.

“You usually can’t see Mr. Bin if you don’t have an appointment, but I’ll see what I can do.�? She seemed annoyed, but dialing the number into Won’s office, it was still her job to help her. “Mr. Bin, there’s a Miss Vicki Zhao here to see you.�?

“Tell her to wait for me.�?

“Mr. Bin will be with you shortly, please have a seat over there.�? She pointed to a couch and table at the other corner of the room.

Taking a seat and waiting patiently, Vicki flipped through the magazines that was on the coffee table. Thirty minutes went by, then forty-five and then an hour. Looking at her watch, she already wasted an hour just by sitting there. She had enough of his nonsense and got ready to barge into his room. His secretary went somewhere else, and seizing this chance, she rolled up her sleeves and got ready to make her way inside. Just as she was going to barge inside, the two wooden doors opened and out stepped Won.

“Won Bin!�? she screamed in his face.

“I hear you.�? Won frowned at her actions.

“Did you know how long I waited?!�?

“Are you hungry then? Let’s go grab lunch.�? He basically ignored her yelling and walked ahead. Frowning and mad, she followed behind him.

They drove in his car and arrived in a fancy restaurant where it sided in the middle of the city. Won handed his car keys to the valet boy and he bowed in respect. The valet boy noticed that there was another person accompanying Won. Taking a closer look at Vicki, he thought this was a weird change for Won. The ladies he usually take to lunch here was elegant and sophisticated with designer clothing and high heel shoes, yet this one today was make-up free, in jeans and sweater and tennis shoes. The valet didn’t understand the sudden change.

“Good afternoon Mr. Bin, you’re table is ready.�? A waitress greeted extremely kind, leading him to a booth. Vicki looked inside and her mouth formed an ‘ahh’. The lightings were high and dimly lit, creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The people dining there were all in business suits engaged in deep conversations over wine and whisky. Won’s usual booth was always reserved for him, over looking the busy streets of the afternoon city. Taking a seat across from Won, Vicki didn’t believe that she could ever be in a such a place like this.

“The usual Mr. Bin?�? The waitress asked before leaving.

“Yes.�? Won nodded and unfolded the newspaper that was ready for him on the table.

“And a drink for you Miss?�? The waitress smiled at Vicki.

“Oh, just water please.�? Vicki smiled uncomfortably. Opening up the menu, her eyes even popped wider. “Whoa, what’s all this?�? Inside were delicate dishes worded in refined words that even she didn’t understand. What really caught her eyes were the prices listed on the end. The expensive dishes made her lost all appetite; even a side of salad equaled to two or three dishes she would usually order in a smaller restaurant. “Do you usually come here?�? She asked.

“Where else would I go?�? Won spoke behind the newspaper.

“Some place cheaper.�? Vicki spoke to herself.

The waitress came back with a tray of water and wine. “Have you guys decided what to order yet?�?

“Give me a soup, and for today I want Lobster Boudan with fresh lemon on the side.�? Vicki’s eyes were still glued to the menu when Won was done ordering. She knew that the waitress was only waiting for her order.

“I’ll just have a set lunch please.�? Giving her menu back, Vicki thought it was kind of embarrassing, as the waitress waited for her order. The glass of water in front of her was used with fine crystal glass that seemed delicate to be used. When Won reached for his glass of wine, she spoke, “Just wanted to warn you ahead of time, if you drink this glass of wine today, you only have one more glass left through the day.�?

Unfolding his newspaper halfway down, he had his dreadful stare at her like she was the mood killer. But Won cocked a grin, and snapped his fingers in the air for a waiter to come. “Bring me a BIGGER glass please.�? The waiter nodded, and took his glass back to the kitchen. Vicki watched him as he made that request, but wanted to punch the daylights out of him as well as wipe that smirk off his face. “You said two glasses right? But you didn’t say how big were they.�?

“I’ll be sure next time.�?

Their food came and Won quietly sipped his wine. Vicki ate hers quietly as well, and occasionally peeked at him. “You know you can dine somewhere else that’s much cheaper? And not to mention much better food?�? Vicki whispered quietly.

Won looked up from his plate, “Guess you never been to places like this huh?�?

“I’ve been to better places!�? She hissed across the table.

“You don’t like green onions?�? Won noticed her picking out the green onions and moving them onto the side of her plate.

“I hate them.�? Vicki continued to pick them out.

“You could’ve just asked them not to put the green onions in.�?

“I don’t like to eat them, but I didn’t say I didn’t like the taste of it in food.�?

Won rolled his eyes, “That’s so much work.�?

“Psh…�? Vicki ignored his words, “I always hope that one day someone would cook a meal just for me with a lot of green onions, but they would pick them out later.�? She said unaware sounding extremely different from her loud self.

Won watched as she smiled girlishly and made a puking face, “Please, I’m trying to finish my lunch here.�?

She threw her fist at him with her fork in hand and threatened to stab his eyes out. They finished the rest of their lunch quickly and Won gulped down his wine. Vicki watched as he did so, “That you need to cut down.�? She pointed to his empty glass.

Won ignored her words, took out his pack of expensive cigarettes and lit one. He saw Vicki staring at him, and just had the urge to smoke more in front of her face, making her cough. “Can’t stand it? Leave.�? He smirked.

“I’ve seen worse than you.�? Vicki leaned in closer to the table, “This won’t drive me away.�?

“We’ll just see for the rest of the day then.�? Won smirked.

For the rest of the day, Won went back and forth out of his company, trailing Vicki behind him. She would wait for him in his office, making sure that he didn’t sneak a drink or smoke while she was gone. Listening to his business meetings always bored her to sleep. When the clock stroke five o’clock, Vicki wanted to scream out loud for joy that they finally get to go home.

“You can go home first, I still have somewhere else to go.�?

“Again?!�? Vicki said exasperatedly, “Where now?�?

“The club.�? Won smiled.

As much as Vicki hated it, she had to tag along because where there’s a club, there’s bound to be drinking. The dark room with loud blazing music was definitely something unfamiliar to Vicki, and the heavy smoking and drinking was also definitely something she hated. Situating himself at a booth with Vicki not too far away from him, he scanned the room, in searching of any certain beautiful looking females.

Settling his eyes on his prey that was sitting by herself at the bar, he waved his hand for the waiter. Vicki watched, curious of what he was doing. Whispering something in the waiter’s ears, he nodded and went back to the bar. Both of them kept their eyes on the waiter and watched as he mixed a drink and placed it in front of the girl. She looked a bit taken back, but once the waiter pointed to where Won was sitting, she looked over and grinned. Won grinned back as a signal and she slowly made her way over to the booth.

“Hi Won,�? she welcomed herself next to him, “Surprisingly to see you here.�?

“And you’re still the same Belle.�? Won smiled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

Vicki watched with disgust. This Belle girl was wearing a short skirt, if you would even call it a skirt, and a diving low V-neck black blouse. “This is?�? She looked over to where Vicki sat and pointed.

“Miss Zhao. But I think she won’t stay here for long.�? Won looked over at Vicki and smiled. Vicki gave both of them a fake smile and nod, and looked elsewhere. But she couldn’t resist her curiosity and annoyance when she kept on hearing her giggle as they whispered words in each other’s ears. She thought it was totally rude of them to ignore her like that and go off in their own little love world.

“Are we done here now?�? Vicki gritted her teeth and asked.

“Hmm, I don’t know yet. We might be heading to the hotel later. What? You want to tag along for the fun too?�? Won smiled brightly, that only made Belle laugh even more.

“Ugh…�? Vicki huffed in disgust, “I’m tired of wasting my time on you today Bin.�? Taking her bag, she got up and escorted herself out of the club, caught a taxi and went home.

Won laughed as he watched her leave and removed his arm off of Belle. “So how about that hotel Won?�? She slyly crept her fingers up the buttons of his shirt and played with his collar.

“Sorry Belle, I’ll see you around.�? He grinned at her and also made his way out of the club, leaving an angry yet confused woman behind.

In her room, Vicki roughly threw her clothes that she hung up last night back in her suitcase and decided that this job was too hard for her. “Stupid Bin.�? She cursed under her breath. “I’ll suffocate the moment I stay here any longer.�? Stuffing random objects of hers in the bag, she picked up the only picture she brought with her which consisted of her, her dad and Sister Nancy outside of the orphanage. She was little in pigtails and her all three of them were smiling happily. Sudden guilt washed over her, and a lump in her throat suddenly wouldn’t go down. She sighed and threw the picture back on her bed. She knew if she left now, there’s no chance she would get the orphanage back. Taking in all her anger, she decided to put her suitcase back in the closet, but she won’t take her clothes out, in case she does get to a point one day she will leave.

Linda left for the night, but she was still up unable to fall asleep. Thinking of ways she could convince him to give the orphanage back. As she laid on the comfy chair outside on her balcony, the cool night breeze was comforting her thoughts, and slowly drifted her off to sleep with questions of getting the orphanage back.

“Oh Won…�? She hissed seductively in one of his white shirts that hung loosely right below her thighs, leaving much imagination. Her hair was curled in soft waves past her shoulders and she looked exceptionally sexy. Won was sitting in his arm chair working on his computer when her rather seductive voice echoed through the room. Turning to see where she was, she stood in the doorway striking a pose and flipped her hair. His heart pounded as he saw her like that, not admitting that he was a bit taken back. She grinned wickedly and slowly made her way to him moving her hips ever so alluringly. His eyes never left her and small beads of sweat could be seen trickling down his forehead.

“Wha-What are you doing Vicki Zhao?�? He asked unsure of her actions.

She giggled, “You’ve probably never saw this side of me before Won, but I could be really nice too.�? She cooed in his ears and giggled again. Touching the collar of this shirt with both hands, he stood up and followed her lead. Her back was against the door and their body positions were rather close. Since he’s taller than her, he could smell the shampoo she used and the flirtatious scent.

“I’ve never seen this side of you before.�? He breathed closely to her.

The light in her eyes twinkled, “Really? Then you should get to know me better.�? She advanced towards him and stroke the back of his neck. He leaned in for a kiss but she stopped him. Teasing him, she giggled, “But before you do, how about we make a deal?�?

His eyebrows raised, “What?�? Since she refused him, he had the urge to just take her mouth and explore their relationship further.

“I get the orphanage back,�? She played with the button of his shirt, then started downwards and unbuttoning the rest of it, “And you get what you want.�?

“Deal.�? Without hesitation, he agreed with her and swooped her up carrying her off to his room. The only last image was the sound of their giggles.

Panicking, Vicki dashed up with sweat all over her face and breathing hard. She tried to catch her normal breathing, but the nightmare was too scary itself to think about it. “What’s gotten into you Vicki?�? She touched her forehead and wiped her sweat, “That’s no way to get the orphanage back.�? She slapped herself for ever having such a thought. The day she would do that is the day that pigs could fly and talk and save the world. Closing her eyes and going back to sleep she hoped a better dream would appear.

“MUHAHAHAHA…�? Came her loud shrieking voice through the dungeon. And where did the dungeon come from? Who knows, it’s her dream. Sitting on a throne with a cup of wine in one hand and a whip in the other, she laughed at the sight of Won. Tied up in chains, his face looked horrible from all the beating, his clothes are torn from the slashing of her whip and his snotty attitude was gone, all that’s left was his pleading and cries. “I told you to never mess with me Bin.�? She laughed aloud.

“Please Vicki…�? He pleaded.

Mad, she threw her whip again, causing him to groan in agony, “That’s Master Vicki to you!�? She ordered.

“Master…�? His plead was barely audible now. “What do you want?�?

“What do I want? What do I WANT?!�? She screamed and stood up walking over to him. Taking out papers from behind her, “Sign these.�? She commanded.

“What-What is it?�?

“Papers to give the orphanage to me.�? Her evil eyes looked away, “If you sign it, I guarantee you that you’ll might have a better life than now. But if you don’t, you know the drill.�?

Whimpering in little cries, he nodded his head slowly in defeat.

“MUAHAHAH!!!�? As she watched his desperate face, everything that he had ever did to her came back as sweet revenge.

She cackled quietly as she slept in the sweet slumber. This dream was too good to wake up from, thought it wasn’t the exact way to get the orphanage back. Little did she know that her balcony can be seen from Won’s room. He was already home and as he walked past his window, he saw her sleeping outside. And as he looked closely, she had a smile plastered over her sleeping face. Once in a while, she would laugh out loud with closed eyes and then going back to sleep again. Won shook his head as he regretted letting a crazy woman stay with him.

The following Saturday morning came up and Linda was already here preparing breakfast. Won woke up first, went out for a morning jog, and since Vicki was still in her nice slumber, she woke up late once again. When her alarm went off, her head shot up right away and she dashed out of her room. Wanting to know if he actually came home last night, she hesitated before opening his door. Taking a deep breath, she burst open the door just to find that no one was inside.

“Rotten bastard.�? She huffed under breath and closed the door. Making her way downstairs, the front door opened and in stepped Won. “You were back last night?�? She pointed and asked.

“What? We’re you staying up for me?�? He teased and swiped the sweat off his face with the towel he brought with him.

“Like I ever would.�? She crossed her arms and made her way in front of him to the kitchen.

They ate the breakfast that Linda fixed for them either in silence or harsh words thrown at each other. Linda was silent, watching the both of them, amused.

“So what do you have plans for today Mr. Bin?�? Vicki asked uninterested.

“I’m going to go golfing today, and maybe stop by the orphanage later to see what I can do with the future golfing land.�? He taunted her. “Maybe you’ll like to tag along in case I do decide to knock the building down today?�? He smiled brightly.

“I sure will.�? She said confidently, “Oh yes, and from now on, no more alcohol more than two glasses a day, and each glass is only limited to eight ounces. Got that?�?

Won only mocked a smile and raised his eyebrows showing his competitive side against her.

“I also checked the pack of cigarettes you were smoking yesterday and you’ve already gulped down half a pack already; you only have half of it left to last you throughout today and tomorrow.�?

“Thank you for telling me.�? Won said sarcastically.

“My pleasure.�? Vicki expressed brightly.

Right when they finished breakfast, Vicki pulled out two bottles of medicines and vitamins out of her pockets. “Here, one each every day.�?

“What is it?�? Won looked at her, speculating those can be more than poison than medication.

“What? Are you afraid to take it? It’s Doctor Choi’s orders.�? Vicki shrugged, “I guess I have no choice but to report this to Doctor Choi.�?

Won set a deadly gaze at her for threatening him. Listening, he took the four pills all in one hand and threw them in his mouth and swallowed.

“That’s a good boy.�? She teased him and pranced back upstairs.

Won squinted his eyes and shadowed his forehead from the bright sun so he can see the shot better. His golf ball flew in the air over miles of yards and finally landed somewhere out of sight. He grinned in a satisfied way stared ahead.

Vicki sighed, “Are you donnne yettt?�? She stretched the words hiding in the golf cart. Wearing capris and a white sports shirt, she cursed the scorching sun. “Only insane people can stand this heat.�? She hissed, fanning herself with her hands. She haven’t stopped fuming since they arrived, guessing when they might be done.

“I told you, you could leave if you want.�? Won slowly strolled back swinging his golf club lightly back and forth. Vicki didn’t even bother listening to him. “You should definitely do more exercise. You call yourself a nurse, and I barely see you doing any kind of exercise.�?

Giving him the silent treatment, she looked the other way as he sat down in the driver seat next to her. Won saw that she wasn’t giving him the time of the day and decided to play a little prank on her. When she least expects it, he quickly stepped on the gas of the cart and zoomed off causing her to loose balance and shrieked.

Won ordered through his phone. “Yes, that’s how business is, ask them if this is their first time working here. They should know this stuff as well.�? Angrily, he hung up the phone and became silent. Vicki also angrily stared at him for ignoring her the whole way and blamed her burns on him.

“Where are we going now?�? She demanded to know.

“Somewhere you might be interested in.�?

They arrived shortly in front of the orphanage, which only made Vicki wonder more of what he’s going to do. “Now what are we doing here?�? She complained.

“I like to take matters in my own hand. No matter how small the business is, I like to look at it myself.�? Won frowned while taking a closer look at the building.�?

“Small?!�? Vicki grunted, “You call this orphanage small?�?

Won acted as if the orphanage didn’t even equal to the amount of one of his car and walked ahead of her. “I don’t know why it’s so important to you. Do you even have any property of it? Any positions? Any shares?�?

“Then what is it about? Memories? Friendship?�? Won mocked. Vicki only watched him as he said those heartless words. “Those things can all be replaced, time will heal everything and when you know it, you won’t even remember what got you so hooked in the first place.�?

“No.�? Won said coldly. “Memories won’t feed you anything but crap.�? With those last words, he walked ahead of her. Then did she realized that they were two total different people, in two different worlds.

Won was already in the huge backyard with the rusted playground. There was a huge oak tree in the far end tied with old ropes and a board to make a swing. The leaves were bright green during this time of the summer, and the wind blowing by that part of the shades were relaxing.

“Oh hey, it’s still here!�? Vicki’s voice behind him broke his concentration. She ran over to where the swing was and touched the entertwined ropes with her hands and smiled. Taking her usual initiative, she sat on the board and swung herself back and forth lifting up her feet. With the gush of wind softly kissing her cheeks, her hair and bangs softly flew to the direction where she was going. Won shook his head at her behavior and looked elsewhere concentrating on his focus of thought: business.

But as her laughter and giggles became something constant, he had the sudden urge and curiosity to look over and see what was so fun. Sneaking a peek, he saw the smile that she had on, it was same as the first time he saw her when she bumped into him. When she realized that she was stared at, she quickly looked over at him but he also looked away, pretending nothing happened. Vicki frowned and threw death glares behind his back. An idea triggered in the back of her head and she threw a sly grin over her face. Quietly, she snuck up behind him and slapped him on the shoulders.

“Hey Won!�? Much to her dismay he wasn’t startled, but that didn’t stop her. “Did you know that there’s a huge place behind here? It’s kind of full of trees at the moment, but if you cut them down, it makes a huge lot for a golf course.�?

Won looked suspicious at her, but she only smiled and nodded, “They never told me anything about this?�?

“Trust me! I come here all the time, the field is huge!�? She convinced and nodded. Without waiting for him to comment, she took charge of his wrist and dragged him there. They walked deeper into the backyard, where it lead them to a forest looking path with branches sticking out every here and there. “See? Isn’t this land big?�?

“Yeah, once we cut all these greens down, it’ll sure make a nice golf course.�? Won said following behind her ducking under branches and bushes.

“Besides this; it also has a small beach up front, follow me!�? She urged and pranced ahead. “See! Over here!�? Her loud shouting anxiously echoed in his ears.

Indeed, like she described, there was a small beach. The sand was clean, due to the minimum people that visit here, and runs a few yards wide and long. The water softly crashed up the beach shore as the summer wind blew. Not only that, there was a small patio and extended a little deck to the middle of the sand. The boards were still sturdy, with the forest’s extending green veins curling around the posts and sides of it. Vicki threw her hands up and out while taking in a big breath of air and sighed in content.

“Hmm, this beach wouldn’t be very suitable in a golf course. But we could build a restaurant in this area that over looks the water. That way it’ll attract more people.�? Won drew a plan in his head. “The field will have to be further away then. Maybe I’ll purchase the other lot next to here as well.�? As he was still thinking, he didn’t even noticed Vicki’s disappearance away from him, when he finally caught on, she was nowhere in sight. “Vicki?�? He called and looked around the area. “Now where did she go?�? Sighing, he decided to look for her while calling her name, “Hey Vicki!�? He followed the trail where he came from but suddenly heard some noises in another direction. Following his instinct senses, he followed the noise thinking it might be Vicki. “Once I find her…�? he grumbled under his breath.

A long entertwining tree foot was out blocking his path and stepping over, he didn’t realize there was actually a small little ditch after it. Falling right into nature’s trap, he tumbled forward and fell.

“AHAHHAHAHA…�? Came Vicki’s voice from where he came from and laughed. She pointed at him with one hand and held her stomach for support from laughing too hard. “Aiy…you need to watch where you’re going Won.�? She said innocently, but laughed again.

He slapped the dust and dirt off both of his hands and threw a deadly glare at her knowing that she planned all of this in the first place. She was familiar with every hole and ditch here, luring him into its traps. “Very funny.�? He said sarcastically.

“You’re right, it is.�? She laughed even more.

He tried getting up, but suddenly winced out loud in pain, “Ahh…my ankle.�? He held his foot. “I think it’s sprained.�?

That stopped Vicki from laughing and looked at him seriously, “Don’t try to lie, who could sprain their ankle that easily?�? She asked putting both hands on her waist.

“Or maybe it’s broken.�? He winced in pain again. Making tormenting noises like his life was going to end soon. Vicki started to worry, “that’s right; I think it’s broken, or else it wouldn’t hurt this much. You’re a nurse, you should know!�? He accused.

Stepping forward and kneeling down to him, she wanted to touch his ankle and make sure, but that only made her worry more as he strive in pain again, “Don’t touch it!�? He held onto his precious ankle. “You’re my nurse, so you should take care of me!�?

“Me? What do you want me to do?�? She pointed at herself frowning that her plan to humiliate him turned wrong. “You want me to walk back outside and tell your driver to come in instead?�?

“You can’t leave an injured patient here!�? He scowled, “besides, I think it’s partially your fault since you brought me here.�?

“I don’t think Doctor Choi would agree with this kind of nurse behavior.�? He warned.

Throwing her piercing glare at him for a little bit, she finally asked, “What do you want me to do then?�?

“Carry me back out.�? He looked at her.

“I use soap.�? She answered focusing on how long she has to walk until they reach they front.

‘Soap’. Won wondered, something so simple, but yet, he doesn’t recognize the scent. Was it specialized soap? Or was it just the way she carried it?

Panting out of air, she saw their car within reach and their driver waiting for him inside. “Dr-…ive…er.�? She tried to call, but nothing came out loud enough came out since she used all her energy. “Hey- driv…ver…�? She tried again.

“We’re here already?�? He asked when he saw the car in close enough view. Releasing himself off of her, he stood on both feet and walked ahead of her.

“Papers to give the orphanage to me.�? Her evil eyes looked away, “If you sign it, I guarantee you that you’ll might have a better life than now. But if you don’t, you know the drill.�?

Whimpering in little cries, he nodded his head slowly in defeat.

“MUAHAHAH!!!�? As she watched his desperate face, everything that he had ever did to her came back as sweet revenge.

She cackled quietly as she slept in the sweet slumber. This dream was too good to wake up from, thought it wasn’t the exact way to get the orphanage back. Little did she know that her balcony can be seen from Won’s room. He was already home and as he walked past his window, he saw her sleeping outside. And as he looked closely, she had a smile plastered over her sleeping face. Once in a while, she would laugh out loud with closed eyes and then going back to sleep again. Won shook his head as he regretted letting a crazy woman stay with him.

The following Saturday morning came up and Linda was already here preparing breakfast. Won woke up first, went out for a morning jog, and since Vicki was still in her nice slumber, she woke up late once again. When her alarm went off, her head shot up right away and she dashed out of her room. Wanting to know if he actually came home last night, she hesitated before opening his door. Taking a deep breath, she burst open the door just to find that no one was inside.

“Rotten bastard.�? She huffed under breath and closed the door. Making her way downstairs, the front door opened and in stepped Won. “You were back last night?�? She pointed and asked.

“What? We’re you staying up for me?�? He teased and swiped the sweat off his face with the towel he brought with him.

“Like I ever would.�? She crossed her arms and made her way in front of him to the kitchen.

They ate the breakfast that Linda fixed for them either in silence or harsh words thrown at each other. Linda was silent, watching the both of them, amused.

“So what do you have plans for today Mr. Bin?�? Vicki asked uninterested.

“I’m going to go golfing today, and maybe stop by the orphanage later to see what I can do with the future golfing land.�? He taunted her. “Maybe you’ll like to tag along in case I do decide to knock the building down today?�? He smiled brightly.

“I sure will.�? She said confidently, “Oh yes, and from now on, no more alcohol more than two glasses a day, and each glass is only limited to eight ounces. Got that?�?

Won only mocked a smile and raised his eyebrows showing his competitive side against her.

“I also checked the pack of cigarettes you were smoking yesterday and you’ve already gulped down half a pack already; you only have half of it left to last you throughout today and tomorrow.�?

“My pleasure.�? Vicki expressed brightly.

Right when they finished breakfast, Vicki pulled out two bottles of medicines and vitamins out of her pockets. “Here, one each every day.�?

“What is it?�? Won looked at her, speculating those can be more than poison than medication.

“What? Are you afraid to take it? It’s Doctor Choi’s orders.�? Vicki shrugged, “I guess I have no choice but to report this to Doctor Choi.�?

Won set a deadly gaze at her for threatening him. Listening, he took the four pills all in one hand and threw them in his mouth and swallowed.

“That’s a good boy.�? She teased him and pranced back upstairs.

Won squinted his eyes and shadowed his forehead from the bright sun so he can see the shot better. His golf ball flew in the air over miles of yards and finally landed somewhere out of sight. He grinned in a satisfied way stared ahead.

Vicki sighed, “Are you donnne yettt?�? She stretched the words hiding in the golf cart. Wearing capris and a white sports shirt, she cursed the scorching sun. “Only insane people can stand this heat.�? She hissed, fanning herself with her hands. She haven’t stopped fuming since they arrived, guessing when they might be done.

“I told you, you could leave if you want.�? Won slowly strolled back swinging his golf club lightly back and forth. Vicki didn’t even bother listening to him. “You should definitely do more exercise. You call yourself a nurse, and I barely see you doing any kind of exercise.�?

Giving him the silent treatment, she looked the other way as he sat down in the driver seat next to her. Won saw that she wasn’t giving him the time of the day and decided to play a little prank on her. Won was finally done with golf and both of them sat in his black Cadillac, far away from each other. Vicki continuously rubbed the sun tan lotion on her arms from the sun burn while Won talked in his cell phone for business matters.

“The contract states that they have officially two more weeks to pay our company back. If they don’t, just take legal actions.�? Won ordered through his phone. “Yes, that’s how business is, ask them if this is their first time working here. They should know this stuff as well.�? Angrily, he hung up the phone and became silent. Vicki also angrily stared at him for ignoring her the whole way and blamed her burns on him.

“Where are we going now?�? She demanded to know.

“Somewhere you might be interested in.�?

They arrived shortly in front of the orphanage, which only made Vicki wonder more of what he’s going to do. “Now what are we doing here?�? She complained.

“I like to take matters in my own hand. No matter how small the business is, I like to look at it myself.�? Won frowned while taking a closer look at the building.�?

“No.�? Won said coldly. “Memories won’t feed you anything but crap.�? With those last words, he walked ahead of her. Then did she realized that they were two total different people, in two different worlds.

Won was already in the huge backyard with the rusted playground. There was a huge oak tree in the far end tied with old ropes and a board to make a swing. The leaves were bright green during this time of the summer, and the wind blowing by that part of the shades were relaxing.

“Oh hey, it’s still here!�? Vicki’s voice behind him broke his concentration. She ran over to where the swing was and touched the entertwined ropes with her hands and smiled. Taking her usual initiative, she sat on the board and swung herself back and forth lifting up her feet. With the gush of wind softly kissing her cheeks, her hair and bangs softly flew to the direction where she was going. Won shook his head at her behavior and looked elsewhere concentrating on his focus of thought: business.

But as her laughter and giggles became something constant, he had the sudden urge and curiosity to look over and see what was so fun. Sneaking a peek, he saw the smile that she had on, it was same as the first time he saw her when she bumped into him. When she realized that she was stared at, she quickly looked over at him but he also looked away, pretending nothing happened. Vicki frowned and threw death glares behind his back. An idea triggered in the back of her head and she threw a sly grin over her face. Quietly, she snuck up behind him and slapped him on the shoulders.

“Hey Won!�? Much to her dismay he wasn’t startled, but that didn’t stop her. “Did you know that there’s a huge place behind here? It’s kind of full of trees at the moment, but if you cut them down, it makes a huge lot for a golf course.�?

Won looked suspicious at her, but she only smiled and nodded, “They never told me anything about this?�?

“Trust me! I come here all the time, the field is huge!�? She convinced and nodded. Without waiting for him to comment, she took charge of his wrist and dragged him there. They walked deeper into the backyard, where it lead them to a forest looking path with branches sticking out every here and there. “See? Isn’t this land big?�?

“Yeah, once we cut all these greens down, it’ll sure make a nice golf course.�? Won said following behind her ducking under branches and bushes.

“Besides this; it also has a small beach up front, follow me!�? She urged and pranced ahead. “See! Over here!�? Her loud shouting anxiously echoed in his ears.

Indeed, like she described, there was a small beach. The sand was clean, due to the minimum people that visit here, and runs a few yards wide and long. The water softly crashed up the beach shore as the summer wind blew. Not only that, there was a small patio and extended a little deck to the middle of the sand. The boards were still sturdy, with the forest’s extending green veins curling around the posts and sides of it. Vicki threw her hands up and out while taking in a big breath of air and sighed in content.

“Hmm, this beach wouldn’t be very suitable in a golf course. But we could build a restaurant in this area that over looks the water. That way it’ll attract more people.�? Won drew a plan in his head. “The field will have to be further away then. Maybe I’ll purchase the other lot next to here as well.�? As he was still thinking, he didn’t even noticed Vicki’s disappearance away from him, when he finally caught on, she was nowhere in sight. “Vicki?�? He called and looked around the area. “Now where did she go?�? Sighing, he decided to look for her while calling her name, “Hey Vicki!�? He followed the trail where he came from but suddenly heard some noises in another direction. Following his instinct senses, he followed the noise thinking it might be Vicki. “Once I find her…�? he grumbled under his breath.

A long entertwining tree foot was out blocking his path and stepping over, he didn’t realize there was actually a small little ditch after it. Falling right into nature’s trap, he tumbled forward and fell.

“AHAHHAHAHA…�? Came Vicki’s voice from where he came from and laughed. She pointed at him with one hand and held her stomach for support from laughing too hard. “Aiy…you need to watch where you’re going Won.�? She said innocently, but laughed again.

He slapped the dust and dirt off both of his hands and threw a deadly glare at her knowing that she planned all of this in the first place. She was familiar with every hole and ditch here, luring him into its traps. “Very funny.�? He said sarcastically.

“You’re right, it is.�? She laughed even more.

He tried getting up, but suddenly winced out loud in pain, “Ahh…my ankle.�? He held his foot. “I think it’s sprained.�?

That stopped Vicki from laughing and looked at him seriously, “Don’t try to lie, who could sprain their ankle that easily?�? She asked putting both hands on her waist.

“Or maybe it’s broken.�? He winced in pain again. Making tormenting noises like his life was going to end soon. Vicki started to worry, “that’s right; I think it’s broken, or else it wouldn’t hurt this much. You’re a nurse, you should know!�? He accused.

Stepping forward and kneeling down to him, she wanted to touch his ankle and make sure, but that only made her worry more as he strive in pain again, “Don’t touch it!�? He held onto his precious ankle. “You’re my nurse, so you should take care of me!�?

“Me? What do you want me to do?�? She pointed at herself frowning that her plan to humiliate him turned wrong. “You want me to walk back outside and tell your driver to come in instead?�?

“You can’t leave an injured patient here!�? He scowled, “besides, I think it’s partially your fault since you brought me here.�?

“I don’t think Doctor Choi would agree with this kind of nurse behavior.�? He warned.

Panting out of air, she saw their car within reach and their driver waiting for him inside. “Dr-…ive…er.�? She tried to call, but nothing came out loud enough came out since she used all her energy. “Hey- driv…ver…�? She tried again.

In her room, Vicki roughly threw her clothes that she hung up last night back in her suitcase and decided that this job was too hard for her. “Stupid Bin.�? “Or maybe it’s broken.�? He winced in pain again. Making tormenting noises like his life was going to end soon. Vicki started to worry, “that’s right; I think it’s broken, or else it wouldn’t hurt this much. You’re a nurse, you should know!�? He accused.

Stepping forward and kneeling down to him, she wanted to touch his ankle and make sure, but that only made her worry more as he strive in pain again, “Don’t touch it!�? He held onto his precious ankle. “You’re my nurse, so you should take care of me!�?

“Me? What do you want me to do?�? She pointed at herself frowning that her plan to humiliate him turned wrong. “You want me to walk back outside and tell your driver to come in instead?�?

“You can’t leave an injured patient here!�? He scowled, “besides, I think it’s partially your fault since you brought me here.�?

“I don’t think Doctor Choi would agree with this kind of nurse behavior.�? He warned.

“You’re…freaking…heavy.�? Vicki huffed, taking small steps so she wouldn’t fall. Won wrapped his arms around her neck and shoulders enjoying the piggy-back ride she gave him. She was sweating and having difficulties breathing up and down the path where they originally came from. Now regretting about her original plan, she had to take care of him.

“Use your legs and stop talking.�? Won used his conceited tone as he enjoyed the feeling that she was being tortured. “You’re my nurse, this is your job.�? He reminded.

“My contract never said anything about piggy-backing you.�? She hissed.

Won pretended that he didn’t hear her. He couldn’t help but sniffed the scent of her hair, it wasn’t something that he recognized, “What shampoo do you use?�? He curiously asked.

“I use soap.�? She answered focusing on how long she has to walk until they reach they front.

‘Soap’. Won wondered, something so simple, but yet, he doesn’t recognize the scent. Was it specialized soap? Or was it just the way she carried it?

Panting out of air, she saw their car within reach and their driver waiting for him inside. “Dr-…ive…er.�? She tried to call, but nothing came out loud enough came out since she used all her energy. “Hey- driv…ver…�? She tried again.

“We’re here already?�? He asked when he saw the car in close enough view. Releasing himself off of her, he stood on both feet and walked ahead of her.

“Huh?�? Confused when she saw that he could walk on his own, “your ankle?�? She knew that he used her.

“Thanks for the ride.�? He turned around and thanked her smiling victoriously before getting in the car.

Falling down on her knees, she gripped a handful of grass angrily and pulled it right out of the ground, “Won Bin!!!�?

In her room, Vicki roughly threw her clothes that she hung up last night back in her suitcase and decided that this job was too hard for her. “Stupid Bin.�? She cursed under her breath. “I’ll suffocate the moment I stay here any longer.�? Stuffing random objects of hers in the bag, she picked up the only picture she brought with her which consisted of her, her dad and Sister Nancy outside of the orphanage. She was little in pigtails and her all three of them were smiling happily. Sudden guilt washed over her, and a lump in her throat suddenly wouldn’t go down. She sighed and threw the picture back on her bed. She knew if she left now, there’s no chance she would get the orphanage back. Taking in all her anger, she decided to put her suitcase back in the closet, but she won’t take her clothes out, in case she does get to a point one day she will leave.

Linda left for the night, but she was still up unable to fall asleep. Thinking of ways she could convince him to give the orphanage back. As she laid on the comfy chair outside on her balcony, the cool night breeze was comforting her thoughts, and slowly drifted her off to sleep with questions of getting the orphanage back.

“Oh Won…�? She hissed seductively in one of his white shirts that hung loosely right below her thighs, leaving much imagination. Her hair was curled in soft waves past her shoulders and she looked exceptionally sexy. Won was sitting in his arm chair working on his computer when her rather seductive voice echoed through the room. Turning to see where she was, she stood in the doorway striking a pose and flipped her hair. His heart pounded as he saw her like that, not admitting that he was a bit taken back. She grinned wickedly and slowly made her way to him moving her hips ever so alluringly. His eyes never left her and small beads of sweat could be seen trickling down his forehead.

“Wha-What are you doing Vicki Zhao?�? He asked unsure of her actions.

She giggled, “You’ve probably never saw this side of me before Won, but I could be really nice too.�? She cooed in his ears and giggled again. Touching the collar of this shirt with both hands, he stood up and followed her lead. Her back was against the door and their body positions were rather close. Since he’s taller than her, he could smell the shampoo she used and the flirtatious scent.

“I’ve never seen this side of you before.�? He breathed closely to her.

The light in her eyes twinkled, “Really? Then you should get to know me better.�? She advanced towards him and stroke the back of his neck. He leaned in for a kiss but she stopped him. Teasing him, she giggled, “But before you do, how about we make a deal?�?

His eyebrows raised, “What?�? Since she refused him, he had the urge to just take her mouth and explore their relationship further.

“I get the orphanage back,�? She played with the button of his shirt, then started downwards and unbuttoning the rest of it, “And you get what you want.�?

“Deal.�? Without hesitation, he agreed with her and swooped her up carrying her off to his room. The only last image was the sound of their giggles.

Panicking, Vicki dashed up with sweat all over her face and breathing hard. She tried to catch her normal breathing, but the nightmare was too scary itself to think about it. “What’s gotten into you Vicki?�? She touched her forehead and wiped her sweat, “That’s no way to get the orphanage back.�? She slapped herself for ever having such a thought. The day she would do that is the day that pigs could fly and talk and save the world. Closing her eyes and going back to sleep she hoped a better dream would appear.

“MUHAHAHAHA…�? Came her loud shrieking voice through the dungeon. And where did the dungeon come from? Who knows, it’s her dream. Sitting on a throne with a cup of wine in one hand and a whip in the other, she laughed at the sight of Won. Tied up in chains, his face looked horrible from all the beating, his clothes are torn from the slashing of her whip and his snotty attitude was gone, all that’s left was his pleading and cries. “I told you to never mess with me Bin.�? She laughed aloud.

“Please Vicki…�? He pleaded.

Mad, she threw her whip again, causing him to groan in agony, “That’s Master Vicki to you!�? She ordered.

“Master…�? His plead was barely audible now. “What do you want?�?

“What do I want? What do I WANT?!�? She screamed and stood up walking over to him. Taking out papers from behind her, “Sign these.�? She commanded.

“What-What is it?�?

“Papers to give the orphanage to me.�? Her evil eyes looked away, “If you sign it, I guarantee you that you’ll might have a better life than now. But if you don’t, you know the drill.�?

Whimpering in little cries, he nodded his head slowly in defeat.

“MUAHAHAH!!!�? As she watched his desperate face, everything that he had ever did to her came back as sweet revenge.

She cackled quietly as she slept in the sweet slumber. This dream was too good to wake up from, thought it wasn’t the exact way to get the orphanage back. Little did she know that her balcony can be seen from Won’s room. He was already home and as he walked past his window, he saw her sleeping outside. And as he looked closely, she had a smile plastered over her sleeping face. Once in a while, she would laugh out loud with closed eyes and then going back to sleep again. Won shook his head as he regretted letting a crazy woman stay with him.

The following Saturday morning came up and Linda was already here preparing breakfast. Won woke up first, went out for a morning jog, and since Vicki was still in her nice slumber, she woke up late once again. When her alarm went off, her head shot up right away and she dashed out of her room. Wanting to know if he actually came home last night, she hesitated before opening his door. Taking a deep breath, she burst open the door just to find that no one was inside.

“Rotten bastard.�? She huffed under breath and closed the door. Making her way downstairs, the front door opened and in stepped Won. “You were back last night?�? She pointed and asked.

“What? We’re you staying up for me?�? He teased and swiped the sweat off his face with the towel he brought with him.

“Like I ever would.�? She crossed her arms and made her way in front of him to the kitchen.

They ate the breakfast that Linda fixed for them either in silence or harsh words thrown at each other. Linda was silent, watching the both of them, amused.

“So what do you have plans for today Mr. Bin?�? Vicki asked uninterested.

“I’m going to go golfing today, and maybe stop by the orphanage later to see what I can do with the future golfing land.�? He taunted her. “Maybe you’ll like to tag along in case I do decide to knock the building down today?�? He smiled brightly.

“I sure will.�? She said confidently, “Oh yes, and from now on, no more alcohol more than two glasses a day, and each glass is only limited to eight ounces. Got that?�?

Won only mocked a smile and raised his eyebrows showing his competitive side against her.

“I also checked the pack of cigarettes you were smoking yesterday and you’ve already gulped down half a pack already; you only have half of it left to last you throughout today and tomorrow.�?

“Thank you for telling me.�? Won said sarcastically.

“My pleasure.�? Vicki expressed brightly.

Right when they finished breakfast, Vicki pulled out two bottles of medicines and vitamins out of her pockets. “Here, one each every day.�?

“What is it?�? Won looked at her, speculating those can be more than poison than medication.

“What? Are you afraid to take it? It’s Doctor Choi’s orders.�? Vicki shrugged, “I guess I have no choice but to report this to Doctor Choi.�?

Won set a deadly gaze at her for threatening him. Listening, he took the four pills all in one hand and threw them in his mouth and swallowed.

“That’s a good boy.�? She teased him and pranced back upstairs.

Won squinted his eyes and shadowed his forehead from the bright sun so he can see the shot better. His golf ball flew in the air over miles of yards and finally landed somewhere out of sight. He grinned in a satisfied way stared ahead.

Vicki sighed, “Are you donnne yettt?�? She stretched the words hiding in the golf cart. Wearing capris and a white sports shirt, she cursed the scorching sun. “Only insane people can stand this heat.�? She hissed, fanning herself with her hands. She haven’t stopped fuming since they arrived, guessing when they might be done.

“I told you, you could leave if you want.�? Won slowly strolled back swinging his golf club lightly back and forth. Vicki didn’t even bother listening to him. “You should definitely do more exercise. You call yourself a nurse, and I barely see you doing any kind of exercise.�?

Giving him the silent treatment, she looked the other way as he sat down in the driver seat next to her. Won saw that she wasn’t giving him the time of the day and decided to play a little prank on her. When she least expects it, he quickly stepped on the gas of the cart and zoomed off causing her to loose balance and shrieked.

Won was finally done with golf and both of them sat in his black Cadillac, far away from each other. Vicki continuously rubbed the sun tan lotion on her arms from the sun burn while Won talked in his cell phone for business matters.

“The contract states that they have officially two more weeks to pay our company back. If they don’t, just take legal actions.�? Won ordered through his phone. “Yes, that’s how business is, ask them if this is their first time working here. They should know this stuff as well.�? Angrily, he hung up the phone and became silent. Vicki also angrily stared at him for ignoring her the whole way and blamed her burns on him.

“Where are we going now?�? She demanded to know.

“Somewhere you might be interested in.�?

They arrived shortly in front of the orphanage, which only made Vicki wonder more of what he’s going to do. “Now what are we doing here?�? She complained.

“I like to take matters in my own hand. No matter how small the business is, I like to look at it myself.�? Won frowned while taking a closer look at the building.�?

“Small?!�? Vicki grunted, “You call this orphanage small?�?

Won acted as if the orphanage didn’t even equal to the amount of one of his car and walked ahead of her. “I don’t know why it’s so important to you. Do you even have any property of it? Any positions? Any shares?�?

“It’s not all about shares or properties you know.�?

“Then what is it about? Memories? Friendship?�? Won mocked. Vicki only watched him as he said those heartless words. “Those things can all be replaced, time will heal everything and when you know it, you won’t even remember what got you so hooked in the first place.�?

“No.�? Won said coldly. “Memories won’t feed you anything but crap.�? With those last words, he walked ahead of her. Then did she realized that they were two total different people, in two different worlds.

Won was already in the huge backyard with the rusted playground. There was a huge oak tree in the far end tied with old ropes and a board to make a swing. The leaves were bright green during this time of the summer, and the wind blowing by that part of the shades were relaxing.

“Oh hey, it’s still here!�? Vicki’s voice behind him broke his concentration. She ran over to where the swing was and touched the entertwined ropes with her hands and smiled. Taking her usual initiative, she sat on the board and swung herself back and forth lifting up her feet. With the gush of wind softly kissing her cheeks, her hair and bangs softly flew to the direction where she was going. Won shook his head at her behavior and looked elsewhere concentrating on his focus of thought: business.

But as her laughter and giggles became something constant, he had the sudden urge and curiosity to look over and see what was so fun. Sneaking a peek, he saw the smile that she had on, it was same as the first time he saw her when she bumped into him. When she realized that she was stared at, she quickly looked over at him but he also looked away, pretending nothing happened. Vicki frowned and threw death glares behind his back. An idea triggered in the back of her head and she threw a sly grin over her face. Quietly, she snuck up behind him and slapped him on the shoulders.

“Hey Won!�? Much to her dismay he wasn’t startled, but that didn’t stop her. “Did you know that there’s a huge place behind here? It’s kind of full of trees at the moment, but if you cut them down, it makes a huge lot for a golf course.�?

Won looked suspicious at her, but she only smiled and nodded, “They never told me anything about this?�?

“Trust me! I come here all the time, the field is huge!�? She convinced and nodded. Without waiting for him to comment, she took charge of his wrist and dragged him there. They walked deeper into the backyard, where it lead them to a forest looking path with branches sticking out every here and there. “See? Isn’t this land big?�?

“Yeah, once we cut all these greens down, it’ll sure make a nice golf course.�? Won said following behind her ducking under branches and bushes.

“Besides this; it also has a small beach up front, follow me!�? She urged and pranced ahead. “See! Over here!�? Her loud shouting anxiously echoed in his ears.

Indeed, like she described, there was a small beach. The sand was clean, due to the minimum people that visit here, and runs a few yards wide and long. The water softly crashed up the beach shore as the summer wind blew. Not only that, there was a small patio and extended a little deck to the middle of the sand. The boards were still sturdy, with the forest’s extending green veins curling around the posts and sides of it. Vicki threw her hands up and out while taking in a big breath of air and sighed in content.

“Hmm, this beach wouldn’t be very suitable in a golf course. But we could build a restaurant in this area that over looks the water. That way it’ll attract more people.�? Won drew a plan in his head. “The field will have to be further away then. Maybe I’ll purchase the other lot next to here as well.�? As he was still thinking, he didn’t even noticed Vicki’s disappearance away from him, when he finally caught on, she was nowhere in sight. “Vicki?�? He called and looked around the area. “Now where did she go?�? Sighing, he decided to look for her while calling her name, “Hey Vicki!�? He followed the trail where he came from but suddenly heard some noises in another direction. Following his instinct senses, he followed the noise thinking it might be Vicki. “Once I find her…�? he grumbled under his breath.

A long entertwining tree foot was out blocking his path and stepping over, he didn’t realize there was actually a small little ditch after it. Falling right into nature’s trap, he tumbled forward and fell.
